Magic
- 2 main kinds of magic: Wizardly and Clerical
- It is in fact the same source – something similar to a field – but the wizards and clerics channel it differently
- Some clerics may worry that not pleasing his or her god will result in not being granted powers until atoning. This is purely psychological and self-inflicted; the gods – if they exist int he form clerics think they do – do not really care who uses what magic
- Amongst wizards, there are 3 main schools: Academic, Industrial and Traditional
- Academic
- Study, research mostly for the sake of knowledge and out of curiosity
- Often try to understand the underlying principles of magic
- Industrial
- More concerned with applications and uses
- Enjoy the wealth that comes with magical power (when you promote yourself well)
- Eg. War mages, alchemists, bodyguards, Wizards specializing in Moving Heavy Things, etc.
- Traditional
- The sort that we all know and love from fantasy stories and RPGs
- Often solitary individuals, studying for their own power
- Adventurers
- There is often overlap between Academic and and Industrial types
- Adventurers also frequently become academics or more “industrially” employed as they get old and settle down
- Academic
